3VENI’S multi-talented bandleader Vereendra Persad is singing a happy song. For months and months, his band has been making waves retailing to foreign audiences a crossover brand of local music -- a fusion of chutney and soca, with some pop riffs thrown in for added measure. 3Veni is back home after staging successful performances in Canada (Caribana) and Labour Day shows in Brooklyn, New York. 3Veni will continue its run of success as the group will headline the launch of Trini Revellers Band at Pier 1 on September 23. Persad reminded Mirror Weekend that Trini Revellers has taken the Band of the Year title three times and we have been and will continue to be the resident band. 3Veni is also currently in the studio completing an album to be released shortly.
