THREE persons lost their lives over the last week in connection with drug deals gone sour in South Trinidad, according to the police.
The first was Kevin Ellis, a “PH” Montgomery Street, Ste. Madeleine, who was innocently killed. Police reports say that Ellis’s friend, Sean Baptiste was accused of stealing drugs from one of his associates. Baptiste was severely beaten two Thursdays ago.
He was declared brain dead and succumbed to injuries at Port-of-Spain General Hospital (POSGH) where he was receiving neurology treatment.
Ellis, who witnessed the beating of Baptiste, gave police information about the incident, and police believe that his Ellis was link to this when he was gunned down on Monday night in front of his home also in Montgomery Street.
Villagers say the two were good friends and neighbours.
In another incident, police believe Andy Ramjit, 31, was mistaken for one of his relatives, who was deeply involved in the drug trade. Police reports say the relative was wanted for stealing drugs. The gunmen, however, killed Ramjit last Sunday in Forres Park. His friend Dinesh Anmol, 21, was also shot and is receiving treatment at San Fernando General Hospital.
Ramjit was released from prison some two years ago after serving time for larceny.
San Fernando homicide is investigating all three murders.
