WHILE the blogs are being silenced a concerted effort is being made to provide yet another broadcast outlet to push PP propaganda.
Barrington ‘Skippy’ Thomas, the ex-convict turned political activist who is now an ‘adviser’ to Minister of the People and Social Development, Glenn Ramadarsingh, now has a three-hour daily radio programme from 6-9 am which is simulcast on radio 101.1 FM and Win TV, where he promotes the virtues of his Minister and the PP administration.
Media Watch is happy for Thomas that in addition to his job as a manager at Cepep and adviser to the Minister, he also has time to prepare for and host a morning radio programme. Clearly he is a man of tremendous energy and his ‘advice’ may be helping Ramadarsingh as he skips across the country.
There may be room for concern, however, as Media Watch has been the recipient of some correspondence which suggests that the Ministry of the People is advertising in both stations in a manner which could suggest that taxpayers funds are being utilised to burnish the already over-sized ego of Ramdarsingh, who is never shy of letting everyone know what his right hand is doing.
Media Watch is also investigating reports that the female executive identified only as ‘Marsha’, who was responsible for recruiting paid bloggers at the University of the West Indies, also at one time operated out of Ramadarsingh’s office. But we shall return to that one shortly.
