Griffith: I am not against Sandy
WITH mere minutes to press time, National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister Gary Griffith telephoned the TnT Mirror to clarify his previous comments on the e-mails.
“I want to make it abundantly clear that we have only one Minister of National Security, and that is John Sandy.
“I work for the Prime Minister, who is chairman of the National Security Council and I want to state that Minister Sandy has a big say in the structure of the security of the country,” he said.
Griffith, who had earlier questioned the authenticity of the series of emails in which he chastised Sandy and his political advisor Roy Augustus said that with regards to the responsibility for the contentious National Security Operations Centre (NSOC), it was irrelevant as to where that unit is placed.
“It is really irrelevant whether it falls under the Office of the Prime Minister or the Ministry of National Security. I am already on record as saying that from an operational aspect, as well as its assets, the Unit falls under the Ministry of national Security,” he said.
“I am not against Minister Sandy, and the perception that I am against him is totally false and misleading.”
Griffith reminded, however, that the structure of the operational centre was still in the embryonic stage and “we are still looking at the pros and the cons.”
