A SEVEN member “Bees for Development” group from the United Kingdom (UK), arrived in Tobago for a week-long safari of the sister-isle from last week Monday. They were greeted on arrival at the ANR Robinson International Airport in Crown Point by President of the Tobago Apiary-cultural Society Gladstone Solomon and began their beekeeping safari in earnest the next day Tuesday.
After paying a courtesy call on Secretary for Agriculture Garry Melville the UK team visited several areas around Scarborough including the Market, the Botanic Gardens, Fort King George and had lunch at the Blue Crab Restaurant.
Later they visited the beekeeping hives of Murchison Figari at Hampden Lowlands for an exchange of ideas and skills involved in the roll out of beeswax foundation sheets with members of the local beekeeping society. The group departed for a similar exercise in Trinidad last Sunday.
