THE countdown for the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) elections due in January 2013 has begun and already the island’s political parties are gearing up for battle.
Jumping the gun, however, is the Black Rock Action Group Youth Arm of the Tobago Organisation of the People (TOP) with plans for a first ever queen show.
The TOP queen show is to be held at the Whim Community Center on January 28. The novel pageant according to Interim President Lakeyia Scotland will feature twelve delegates from several districts across the island.
“This is a fund-raising venture in which a Black Rock Majestic Queen would be crowned,” explained Scotland. “All contestants would be supplied with TOP jerseys from which they would be given the opportunity to come up with creative designs for both sport and formal wear,” she continued. “They would also be judged in a talent segment,” declared Scotland. And the delegates between the ages of 8 to 18 years created quite a stir with a large retinue of followers taking in their first photo shoot at the Botanic Gardens last Sunday.
They are: Kristen Antoine of Mt. Pleasant, Kendra Bournes of Signal Hill, Kinda Stephens of Whim, Zackia George of Plymouth, Darrencia Douglas of Black Rock, Joselle Vincent of Shirvan Road, Kharyssa Andrews of Black Rock, Kamara Joseph of Patience Hill, Shannon Alfred of Whim, Angilicee and Annalicee Melville of Roxborough and Khalifah Andrews of Black Rock.
