Prominent pastor quits after being caught in adulterous sex acts…
One of the country’s most prominent Pentecostal pastors, Peter Regis, has been forced to resign after being caught in a sexual relationship with the wife of a junior pastor of his Valencia Pentecostal Assembly.
Regis, 57, who is a well-known Gospel singer also features on Family Focus Network, one of the country’s leading radio stations catering to the born-again Christian community. He was one of the religious leaders leading the peace initiative in John John following the death of 10-year-old Tecia Henry two years ago.
Last week Regis tendered his resignation to the Pentecostal Assemblies of the West Indies (PAWI) and the board of the Valencia Pentecostal Assembly after a junior pastor presented evidence of an intimate relationship between Regis and the junior pastor’s wife.
This is the third time that Regis has been caught up in a sex scandal with female members of his flock, Mirror was reliably informed. On the last occasion, a few years ago he was warned by PAWI and placed on probation.
On this occasion he was caught with his pants down, on tape, with a 30 year-old female member of his church performing steamy sex acts in what appears to be the bedroom of his home.
According to a church member familiar with the issue, the woman’s husband saw a flash drive in her handbag and reportedly sought the assistance of a friend with a computer to download it out of curiosity. To his surprise the flash drive contained a “blue movie,” featuring his wife and his Pastor.
The junior pastor, a maxi taxi driver, was said to be traumatized by the nature of the sex acts, which did not include the missionary position.
The cuckolded husband took photos of the acts to the executive of the Valencia Pentecostal Assembly, Regis’ church, and the pastor was called to a meeting where he admitted his guilt and immediately submitted his resignation when confronted with the evidence.
Pastor Regis also apologised at the meeting as his resignation was immediately and unanimously accepted.
When TnT Mirror contacted Pastor Regis on the matter he admitted that he had let his family and congregation down.
“I blew it,” he said, in a tormented voice.
He confirmed that he has resigned, saying that the incident was the work of the devil.
“This is male-shame,” and I am apologising to everybody and the church,” he said.
“I am devastated,” he added.
However, Pastor Regis said he did not wish to go into any further details adding that he did not know how the sex photos got into the hands of the woman’s husband.
Members of his congregation were taken by surprise when they turned up for church on Sunday to see Regis sitting in the pew and another pastor conducting the service.
He later appeared on the pulpit and apologized for what he had done to a female member of his church. Close friends of the maxi taxi driver, who has also been active in the church, say that he has been devastated given the nature of the video recording and will need time to recover.
Pastor Regis is married and is the father of four children, all adults.
While some members of the church are reportedly holding a week of prayers for him, other parishioners told TnT Mirror he should stay away from the church.
What is not surprising after hearing of this incident is that the men of this headship are cheaters, womanizers and clearly take God for granted. I see why now Gentle is such a cheater; his leader is a cheater.
I am sorry to hear about this. i loved him and not because he made a mistake means i don't love him. i love him more now. he ought to know that through it all god is there and he is able to forgive. instead of people pushing him down more they should try their best to keep him in prayer and try helping him up.
Ask yourself this question. If you made a horrible mistake in life would you want someone to push u straight down or to help you up and recover from your mistake?

I don't agree with you. The power of God through prayer is the ultimate. The professionals can try but without God's intervention it's all in vain. Remember Psalm 127
For partners who snoop on their significant others, you better prepare yourself for what you might find. All snooping does is open up cans of worms that neither party may be ready for. Be careful what you snoop for, you just might find it, then you can't deal. If someone has a problem such as Pastor Regis has, they need to seek professional help. not from a pastor or clergy, but a professionally trained therapist. Sexual addiction is just like drugs or alcohol and sometimes it takes much more than prayer and counseling in a pastor's office to break it.

Some may say that one is more bad that the other, but in the site of God all is sin. So people where do we go from here. All the affected persons need to heal, forgive and move on trusting in GOD and not MAN. The church needs to address all these area in the church teaching the flock about how to apply the word to life. There must be a balance. We cannot only deal with helping people to grow spritually, financially etc etc but teach them about real life issues including sex and how we should relate with each other. It is quite easy for every one to talk about the situation but there are two sides to a story. It is time for congregations to take responsibility for their actions and emotions. In case many of you forgot a pastor is man he is falliable and though he may be a holy man he too has human feelings and human emotions. He has a life away and apart from the church. Many a flock and congregation put their pastors on pedastals so high that it is a surety that they will fall far and hard. Who counsels the Pastor. Who helps him with his issues and listens to him? Can you imagine a pastor who is ignored by his family who is not respected by his wife and childredn (remember his public face is not private face). Can you imagine a man as such as this is who feels defeated at home is a hero at his chuch, adored by all, soughted out by young females who hang on his every word not reciprocating the adoration? He is human.
Church goers need stop putting their world on their pastors shoulders. And women need to stop placing their pastor next to God. Peter Regis failed himself miserably. But he alone is not guilty in this.

I am saddened by this news of Pastor Regis, but I do believe that he has a problem and needs to admit it, get to the root of it , ask GOD for forgiveness and move on.

People, this is not the first time that this man has done this. From what i understand, Pastor Regis is a WOMANISER and the church leaders and some members have been covering up for him for a long while now. I know someone personally whom this man has been with in the the church and when she went to report him to the leaders they told her she should leave the church. She even spoke with other women in the church and they told her that they were also victims and when they tried to report this man to the church they were also told to leave. So this behaviour has been encouraged by the church for too long that is why he is now BUSTED. The entire church board should resign for encouraging an adulterous man to reign for so long.
I believe that this is the time for those who have been hiding to be exposed; this had to happen so that those who have appointed to lead, stop misleading. The men in this church have a womanizing spirit. Look out for them, they like going after other men wives. Ms. Gentle …he is a cheater. But still pray for them.

Wrong is wrong, If you're a leader, you must show some form of example. Was he a leader? Is he really a man of God? Mr. Regis did this more than once, why should he apologise? If we keep committing sins over and over, should we ask for forgiveness? He needs help, as well as the pastor's wife. I feel sorry for junior pastor. In the seventh of God's Ten Commandments, he instructs us not to have sex with anyone other than our spouse. It is clear that God forbids sex outside of marriage. When we obey God, he is pleased. He honors our obedience by blessing us. Deuteronomy 28:1-3

Reason #3 – We Will Be Spiritually Healthier
If we live as carnal or fleshly Christians, we will seek to gratify the desires of the flesh and live only to please ourselves. If we live this way, the Bible says we cannot please God. We will be miserable under the weight of our sin. As we continue to feed our fleshly desires, our spirit will grow weak and our relationship with God will be destroyed. Complacency with sin leads to worse sin, and eventually, spiritual death. Romans 8:8,13
Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live … (NIV)
Reason #4 – We Will Be Physically Healthier
This one is a no-brainer. If we refrain from sex outside of marriage, we will be protected from the risk of catching sexually transmitted diseases. 1 Corinthians 6:18
Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body. (NLT)
Reason #5 – We Will Be Emotionally Healthier
One reason God tells us to honor marriage and keep the marriage bed pure has to do with baggage. We carry baggage into our sexual relationships. Memories from the past, emotional scars and unwanted mental images can defile our thoughts and make the marriage bed less than pure. Certainly God can forgive the past, but that doesn't mean we're free from the baggage that can linger in our minds. Hebrews 13:4
Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. (NIV)

It is important to go back to the scriptures on this one. We as Christians have to learn from the teacher whose name we portray. Christ was tempted and he showed us how to overcome temptation. So it is okay to be tempted, but the sin is when we fall to the temptation. We fall prey to temptation because we take our eyes off God and see ourselves either as God or above the rest. The principle here is what I refer to as the "Peter" principle. When Jesus called Peter to walk on the water, he was walking on the water, until he took his eyes off Christ. The minute he took his eyes of Christ he fell. Is it that that Peter Regis did.
He needs to do two things, bare his soul before God and ask for cleansing from this addiction he has and also use the man made version (psychologists) to get rid of this desire that he has.
My prayers go out to all concerned. It however is a wake up call to all of us who go by the name Christian. We need to keep our feet firmly planted on the ground and our eyes fixed on Jesus. When we do so we will overcome all and not fall.

Satan is so strategic! Pastor was a vessel being used by God but he was a vessel being attacked by satan also. Temptation is not a casual thing.. lets stop all the condemnation and judgment. Yes there is disappointment and hurt but at the end of the day we can't go back and undo what has been done… let's focus on healing restoration, support for both families and stepping up and letting that love of Christ in us manifest.. David was a man after God's own heart and we all know the story of King David.. Pastor has a besetting sin that is forever before him ,let us join together and consistently stand in the gap for this soul.. yes he had choice and yes he choose to do what he did. So what now? throw him in the pit of fire to reside with satan?? or do we extend our hands with love & mercy and try to save this weaken soul, assisting him to see God's face… We can quote scripture both ways that's clear, BUT WE too have a choice.. decide !!! Do we forgive or continue dwelling on the sin , waste time brooding, condemning and judging NON of which is our place or job!!! .. Pastor press it's your responsibility to work out your salvation with fear. You took up choice now you have to deal with the other end of the rod consequences!! this end is hot, it's shameful disappointing, distasteful we could find so many words but does it matter hw we label it? Christ went to Calvary knowing all this filth we would do and yet he died to redeem us! at the end of the day seek God's opinion of you he ALONE knows your heart and your struggle. how many of us told a lie today ( no lair shall enter heaven) how many secretly lusts (the sin is already committed) God dsnt see sin like us SIN is SIN and the consequence is the same!! let's intercede on behalf of him not place curses on him he has enough issues to deal with and blood on his hands as it is… we pray and intercede for the nation, the world & for non believers so WHY can't we do the same for our bro in Christ? If this incident had happened to a pastor of any other religious body would you so called born again christians be so lenient and forgiving?

At the end of the day, when God comes we all have to answer for ourselves on judgement day. I don't agree with what Pastor Regis did however, he had time to repent and he didn't and this exposure is the outcome of it. What I don't get is why would you want to take pictures and videos when you know what you doing is wrong and both of you are married and cheating. This situation is real we must admit. The Scripture clearly outline how such situations should be handled so I encourage that those who are believers to be guided by God's word. I encourage praying for all the parties involved.

All I hear is anger and hatred. Why pray? Because God commanded us to. We condemn sin never a man. He messed up big time but why allow that to keep you from forgiving. This is sad….. church members have horrible double standards. Very true that peter Regis is only human, but what stood out to me here is not the mistake he made. But most obvious problem is the fact that 'born again christians" continue to put their noses in the air to the "world" but do the same folly as everyone else. Preaching in total opposition to what you are doing that is sad. Mistake yes fine … but I can not stand hypocracy! The fact is this people are only people , everyone is human saved or unsaved, all this mercy and understanding needs to be applied to everyone not just ur beloved pastor. This is y i left the church because you all live inna bubble. Luckily God is Love and understands the depraved nature of our flesh. Glorify no man people, understand the world we live in and understand that from the pastor to the gang leader to the rapist , we are all the same. I can sit here and find many reasons to defend him as well as to condemn him. The fact is this, What he did was WRONG, sure. So you never committed Adultery, what makes you think God looks down on Pastor any MORE than he does on us when we fall again or stumble in the same areas of our lives. Don't let society's view of sin make you think any less of your own sin. Sin is sin. God frowns upon sin but He LOVES US! How much times does a righteous man fall? SEVEN times. And how many times are we to forgive SEVENTY TIME SEVEN! Don't get it twisted! A lot of us suffer from BIG-SIN-SMALL-SIN SYNDROME. Forgetting that God doesn't use the same method of measure. The word of God says that the devil goes about as a roaring lion seeking whom he can devour, unfortunately Pastor fell into his trap.
I am not tAking sides here, I feel it for all who is involved. I agree Pastor could have made better decisions, but we all can, can't we? The man made a mistake, the man repeated his mistake, but we are in no place to cast judgement or condemn him cus at the end of the day, we all have. Examine yourselves, examine your lives. I think it's wise that he has stepped down, my prayer goes out to him and his family, his wife especially. I also pray for Marvin and his wife, their 2 boys. People's reactions are quite normal…. and rightly justified. Their are different types of people in the church and Pastor Regis as well knows that a leader's fall cause a great fall 2 many. If u understand that Pastor Regis is human understand that the mocking and teasing and condemning is also human 2. The man clearly has a problem and sorrow only comes when the light is shone in that dark area. Yes ppl ought to forgive, but also leaders ought not to be making sex tapes with junior pastor's wives . Thank you for your insiteful comment but what we are all forgetting the bible says when a man is tempted let him not say it is God but when he is drawn away by his OWN lust (paraphrase). Yes we are called to forgive as the bible teaches but the when we use grace and the devil to cover a sin the church is in a sad state. This doesn't just affect the people but the church of jesus christ itself and yes we may forgive but people will not forget and the damage it has caused will not be washed away because we all forgave and continue about our own business. This is not the first time nor secound but the third so be not deceived grace is not an escape route for continous sin. i'm saddened by what has happened with Pastor Regis, a man of God. It is wise that he steps down and puts his house in order. In the meantime, we as Christians should use this opportunity to prayer and support the man of God rather than criticize and add to the feud. This could happen to ANYONE. Please do not judge him, God is our judge.

The woman, the husband, the congregation, the nation and the dearly beloved Pastor Regis who I know and look up to and will continue to adore because i know he is a man of God and will overcome when situation arise that does not depicts God character in us. Who is without sin cast the first stone? None is! I pray that the young couple will stand firm and grow from strength during this time, likewise Pastor Regis Family. To be honest am not one bit moved over this entire situation, though Pastor Regis is an anointed man of God, He is not God. I dont think anybody has made any excuses… But also remember a righteous man falls seven time but gets back up… Remember David, he also knew better but he still messed up but he confessed his wrong and sought God's face and was declared a man after God's own heart. i don't knw all the facts. I wasn't there I didn't hear his conversations with God. I cannot judge if he was truly repentant or not but God is not man He judges hearts and not human appearances. I am not excusin what he did by any means but I am lookin at it from the point of view of him being a brother in Christ. You don't kick a wounded soldier, you don't hate you don't allow anger and resentment to keep from the bigger picture that God is still God inspite of.
